A beautifully whisky soaked Vegas fairy tale love story. The Cooler feels like the most gritty and grimy casino movie outside of the Martin Scorsese epic. Shot in a constant cigarette haze, with Alec Baldwin's commitment to maintaining the old ways it feels like a real glimpse into the world of the Vegas that has a reputation as a degenerate hell.

Rocky II might be the most meta movie in existence, because the actual story of the film is literally about Stallone being forced to make Rocky II. That sadly leaves it kind of forgotten in the pantheon of the series and that's a shame since this is such an absolutely worthy sequel to the first.
