screening with Q&A with Joe Begos
I didn't know anything about this going into it. It was a free screening - I love free things and I love movies. I've heard of Joe Begos's other movies, but haven't seen any until now. I enjoyed this a lot! Very neon, very wet/goopy, lots of drugs, lots of drinking, sludgy metal music, lots of cursing. Once the action and that neon blood starts, it doesn't stop until the movie is over.
It's fitting this is about generational trauma. The very young boy that started crying as soon as the first death scene ended is sure to have some.
Children under the age of 10 outnumbered the adults in my theater. I use the term adult loosely, because the girl in front of me was editing her high school graduation photo on her phone. She yelled, "Fuck you BITCH!" at the top of her lungs when I told her to turn it off. School is out, and my days of seeing weekday matinees to avoid the general public are over.
