Boring, uninteresting, Lazy Ip Slop.

I can’t believe I went to see this movie and I’m super disappointed I didn’t like this. The film itself is chalk filled with some really great fight scenes, so if your fans of that business give it a watch to me I find them to be a little lacklustre and lacking at times but hey different opinions for everyone.

No the thing I find really aggravating about this movie is not the horrible writing and how cringy this movie is. Yes I can understand it’s supposed to be a popcorn movie but to me that’s no argument for lazy, repetitive writing with no point or purpose other than see John Wick appear in the film. The thing I find absolutely disgusting is the clear lack of interest in actually being a film, this is a money grab. They slap John wick world on the title knowing it’s a guaranteed money maker, this is what kills cinema we are subjected to unoriginal slop in gangs of it, as an avid film lover this aches me to my core, fuck going to the cinema if this is the shite we have to put up with.

Disappointed

Chilling.

The end of the road for this series and my does it go out heartbreakingly and flawlessly. Quick moment to speak about how well wrote this Series actually is, the intensity of the conversation and dialogue is phenomenally worked. This truly is representational of not only Britain at the time period but the working class, its captures wonderfully and the amazing writing lays down the blueprints for how well acted this series is. I loved how more time was given to Gadget usually the laughing stock but has some really tough, touching and compelling scenes. Lol and Woodys happy ending was really sweet and seeing Shaun do well was great. However this leads me to the most important thing in this entire series Milky and Combo, my god is this one of the most horrendous and terrifying things I’ve watched recently. After watching 86 & 88 yesterday you truly watch Combo change. Yes it doesn’t make what he done any better or more excusable, but in my personal opinion watching Combo Die was fucking heartbreaking, I can understand Lilly’s actions and frustration Combo was a jealous, corrupted Racist who fuelled his hatred on to helpless teenagers and minorities but watching him have this redemption and then watching the scene between him and combo you can tell he really means good however no one can escape their past, just like combo, milky will have a self hatred and regret for what he done to combo the truly tragic thing about both is the damage they caused to one another didn’t make their problems any better.

The violence in this to me is always really intense and hard to watch because of how real it feels, I have been in fights just like this where people try to throw their weight about, the sound mixing for the punches haunt me. The violence is soul destroying.

Expertly Crafted.

I’ve seen much worst first ever attempts at a short film. As someone who will be attempting this summer to make their first short film I ire the directors ingenuity and dedication to just create.

Is this movie visually appealing? Nope but it’s made with heart and I appreciate the hard work and dedication put in.

Bags of potential keep it up.

Much Grittier than 86 an absolutely wonderful exploration of guilt and past trauma.

I think the thing that makes me so invested inside this world is the characters all of them good or bad are expertly written and you genuinely care about them, it’s strange but you feel as if you are part of the gang. Shane Meadows direction once again is fantastic it’s expertly done stylishly and masterfully. Meadows is a master at this certain type of Docu-style social conditions. This world is so grounded and filled with eccentricity, joy and genuine care. It feels if you’re stepping through a Time Machine of memories clearly a semi autobiographical tale of Meadows’ real life.

I loved what they done with Woody, a man who longs for a life in the past but is also torn apart from it watching him trying to adjust and conform to this superficial lifestyle is not only hilarious but heartbreaking. Once again however Vicky McClure steals the show as Lol she is brilliant in this series and has been my favourite part by a country mile, that leads me to combo (Stephen Graham) who has one of the most poignant, compelling and all round upsetting scenes in this between him and Lol watching a man try to change and escape from his own past is something I can personally relate to (not to the same extent by a country mile) but watching combo try to change yet you can clearly tell how much regret, pain and frustration he feels about himself through how subtle and layered performance from Graham he is fucking great as Combo and should’ve won an Oscar for the 2006 film.

Onto 90!

What a wicked sequel

Although personally I think This Is England (2006) or 1983 is by far better I really loved this. The four episode series works far better than making another film. This lets the characters become so much more complex and much more interesting, I loved how the incredible Vicky McClure got so much more screen time as LOL there’s points where she carries this entire series on her back in a truly riveting performance she outshines everybody and I’m so glad that Meadows went in a different direction rather than Mainly focusing on Shaun, Combo and woody. This is a hell of a lot darker than the original whereas the first gets pretty extreme about the casual racism in that age which sadly is still common now, this focuses mostly on the toxicity of Love.

This is also an absolutely ugly yet beautifully shot film just because how dull and gritty the surroundings are. Graham returns as Combo and puts in a great performance as per usual although it’s hard to ever forgive combo, you feel some sympathy with that final shot. A redemption I’m not too sure.

On to 88!

I think this might be Spikes best direction to date. A really powerful drama which is the epitome of regret.

This was some watch, it’s neither my favourite Norton performance, PSH performance or even Spike Lee film but it is all wonderfully crafted thanks to how good Spikes Direction and influence is on this, a painfully drawn out night as Norton’s character Monty tries to come to that this may possible be the last time he ever sees the world, his friends and his father, Spikes Direction creates this weird animosity and tension between everyone that always makes you feel a little on edge throughout with some of my favourite scenes not even including Norton is the two different shots of PSH & Anna Paquin when it has the same shot with the typical Spike Lee motion as they both leave this Area but the entire atmosphere has changed it’s thrilling, enthralling and deeply shameful.

The ending is top class as it’s practically the exact same as the beginning just like how Monty wanted to give Doyle a second chance at life Monty’s dad wants to do the same to Monty(Brian Cox) the ambiguity personally I think implies that this is his Dad’s fantasy life for Monty one where he is truly free, especially when it shows him surrounded by loved ones, for me the deeply emotional and powerful part behind is were so unsure of what will actually happen is Monty free and changed as shown by his different reactions to all his peeves about New York as he leaves his outlook has became different or is it simply a fathers comfort to a son. Heartbreaking

Once again Derivative and thirsting for an inventive idea.

First off I would like to say fair play to Max he went out there and actually made something so hats off to ya. But once again I’m sorry to say this is plain nonsense it’s not even a short film it’s an array of clips that haven’t been worked on and not thought out, this style of writing and stating your exposition while also trying to mask your idea doesn’t work. Either the idea is too confusing and over complex or you don’t actually know what you’re wanting to do with it.

I mean this in an extremely nice and ive way, maybe try and take a break of constantly making these 1 minute films that have no real meaning or relevance and take time in figuring out an idea writing it until you think it actually has worth and are ready to film it, then try a different approach to your filmmaking it might help. Take that from a guy in the midst of writing his first short film. It will take time ask people on letterboxd who are creating right now. We all have a lovely and ive community on here.

Max I implore you to please actually try because there is some un woken potential inside you, you just have to put the work in. All the Best

What a class first feature this is and as I have said multiple times it’s a real shame Shane Meadows doesn’t make more Films because he is a top class director.

What makes this movie so special is how real it feels the world is so immersive and hard hitting that you feel so much connection and pity to these characters. Meadows is brilliant at showing the working class surroundings in his film by his use of lighting & cinematography, it gives his films a unique feeling that many British Directors fail to explore, meadows does it wonderfully and this is a prime example of that.

I love the strange way the movies drama and tension is built in this movie and it comes off the back of its brilliant performances most specifically Paddy Considine who in my opinion is one of the most underrated and under appreciated actors of his generation his acting in this is phenomenal the balance between this dim witted, selfless & all round loveable dummy to the bully, nasty bastard he actually is through the clear levels of abuse he’s faced himself is a really hard hitting performance from Considine and shows how good of an actor he always has been.it was also awesome to see a really young Andrew Shim before this is England where he is brilliant as milky.

What even is this?

It’s not creative, thought provoking or even well executed. I hope the director Max Paton tries to put in a little more effort and work to actually create a sincere, genuine short film. In my opinion you can’t just slap 3 shots and call it a movie.

This is Lazy, Arbitrary Nonsense. That shot at the end explaining everything not only takes away at the purpose of what it’s trying to be but is just confused drivel.

I don’t want to be crude, insensitive or mean but this is an attempt at art that’s clearly not made with any love, substance or attention.

A disturbing social commentary showing us the effects of a nuclear war and its quick destruction of civilisation and humanity.

Such a real and powerful film translated through the form of a mockumentary esc version of the events telling us how true and possible this actually is. It’s a real shame how possible this actuality is, we as a world are so uncertain about what can happen tomorrow and it’s a real fucking shame that humanity’s came to the point where nuclear weapons are even considered it shows our true primal intention of power something no human can ever truly behold is that a nihilistic outlook on society I suppose so but I truly believe this is an extreme travesty that people in charge of the world are at constant dick swinging contests on who actually has the balls to do this or who has the biggest bomb. They are playing with lives of mostly the Everyman, the day to day survivors why? Because they don’t mean anything to them. What spoke to me with this movie the most was when the bomb hit my favourite scene and just the complete shock that people could do this to other people. They have all hit a strange epiphany about how real this situation is, of course quickly followed by life threatening fear but In those first few seconds when the bomb hits the unanimous shock is truly what really makes this movie work. These people are numbers being counted, the complete lack of humanity is frightening.

This movie is horrifying and inhumane dreadful nightmare thanks to the fantastic direction of Mick Jackson and the writing by Barry Hines. The conversation these people have throughout the movie are simplistic but works so well it shows the contrast between humanity and inhumanity.

Haunting.

A Gripping and beautiful ending to one of my favourite movie franchises.

Honestly I know many will disagree in the 5 star rating. Yeah it’s exposition heavy and probably needs one more action set piece but I don’t give a fuck. To me this was a perfect send off not only is it easily the best in the series I feel as if it’s actually just a great fucking movie. The moments of exposition are easily the most well handled of the series I honestly am compelled to all of it largely due to the fact of how well acted this movie is. This is actually a heavy hitting emotional movie and I was tearing up at the end.

I would like to thank Tom Cruise just for the dedication to making movies. Yeah he could have phoned it in and used CGI but I love is attempt and constant effort to authenticity truly makes you tense up in the last 40 minutes and you feel so much more relieved and rewarded. Honestly the most fun I’ve had at cinema this year because of the amount of feeling and journey I was took through. It’s got moments of fun it’s emotional and extremely gripping. McQ is the best director for this series because of how well not only him and toms relationship but his understanding of this world. Ethan Hunt is turned into a truly three dimensional character, the relationships feel so real and has you wanting the characters to succeed, it’s a well written movie.

These last couple of days of watching this series made me so surprisingly happy, these movies are fucking great there just the right amount of everything so with this last one it gives me a feeling of so much joy and energy.

Thank you everyone who made this movie and this series most specifically Tom Cruise, McQ, J.J Abrams, Bryan Burk, David Ellison and Dana Goldberg.

Just watched Toby Sharpes new release and I’ve got mixed feelings about it.

On one hand I was taken back by how beautiful this thing looks. The colour grading and cinematography all look fantastic and for a short film with no budget it had very impressive visuals.

However the film itself felt rushed the editing is kinda just thrashed together in an attempt to make something that doesn’t really have a point to it. This reminded me a lot like one of his earlier projects in Knock Knock, I also just plain don’t really like or get what he’s trying to actually accomplish or say with this.

Although I’m not the biggest fan of this. Toby has a lot of potential and look forward to what’s next + the guy goes out there time and time again and actually just makes movies which is much more than I do so hats off to him.

This was brilliant and my favourite of the series so far. Not only is an Action Packed thrilling adventure but is also stylish, fun and engaging film that’s Anti Ai.

McQ’s directing really flourishes it is here like I’ve said before he’s someone who clearly just loves and understands the series. It’s always thrilling but never takes itself too seriously and in this one perfectly with not only Simon Peggs character of Benji to relief tension but he’s also feels more 3D in this one and actually has some really great moments of acting for pegg. Haley Atwell is a wonderful replacement for Ferguson who I’m sad to see go because how willing and great she is in these movies but Atwell and Cruise have such great chemistry in this film that I’m excited to see what they do in Final Reckoning.

Once again Cruises commitment to these movies really is something to behold and one of the coolest stuns in these films is in this, although 1,2 & 3 all have him being a different character I feel as if his Arc and story has really flourished mostly since McQ became more involved.

This Movie is an absolute joyful experience and once again Ving Rhames is the fucking man!

A quirky outlook on acceptance and the power old relationships hold over you.

I loved how quintessentially British this is largely down to Tim Keys charming and on point performance through his typical humour and style. The music in this was also really well done and actually sounded like music those two characters would write and was actually pretty dang good. The setting is also beautifully shot.

It’s a decent little British film and that’s all to it.

I think the movies pacing was actually not bad for what I thought going in and actually had an endearing yet non sensical plot yet what do you expect it’s a movie about kids doing karate. Machio and Chan are worth the wait and it was cool seeing them both on screen while also having some funny moments. The other ing cast are also all likeable and help make the movie a little bit better and more entertaining. Also cool to see Zabka at the end. All round decent.

Unsurprisingly another fantastic film from DePalma. A crime thriller that takes inspiration from 1960’s Rashomon & DePalma’s earlier work in blow out.

It explores themes of integrity and justice as we follow Rick Santoro a sleazy, corrupt cop on the day of a fight he soon realises there’s much more than meets the eye after the death of the commissioner and spirals Rick into a crisis on right and wrong. I think the true message of this story is actually a really deep and important message which in my opinion translates to us that the truth between good and bad or right and wrong isn’t on our actions that is already decided for us but it’s in of how we face the music. True integrity lies in acceptance and ability the juxtapose between Kevin and Rick is that Kevin couldn’t accept his actions his rant at Rick about what will happen to him lies in his own insecurity and lack of moral fibre. The difference between Rick and Kevin is that one although sleazy, unreliable and downright dirty is their ability afterwards. I’m not sure why but I love that ending it doesn’t glorify Rick or his situation he’s not a hero he’s flawed and downright unlikeable it’s a true statement of our modern world today.

Other than that semi-analysis i would like one moment to talk about who I think may be the greatest director of his generation in Brian DePalma he honestly always proves me wrong and somehow surprises me. I mean that 7 minute oner at the beginning is something to behold, the entire movie is met with your typical beautiful and imaginative direction and typical style from a true artist. Nicolas Cage also puts in a great performance, the guy can really do everything on a screen. Gary Sinse has always been an incredibly underrated actor in my eyes and I find it a real shame he never got many big roles in his career. Because he is a damn good actor and his fantastic in this.

Once again another great addition to the series.

I think this one is just as good as my favourite so far in Three, the new addition in Rebecca Ferguson is great and works so well just because how good Rebecca Ferguson is in everything honestly a wonderful character actor who always brings her A-Game. I think Sean Harris is also great what a despicable bastard and it helps he’s the spitting image of that prick Cycling Mikey. The action is even greater in this than the Last with it actually having some create coordination and impressive sequences. This is also the start of McQ four and I think that this is some of the best direction of the entire series, you also can’t talk about this film without mentioning that stunt at the beginning Cruises commitment to this series is why he is the president of movies, the guy lives and breathes cinema and i’m glad i live in a world where he makes movies.

My only problem with this film is that I feel it suffers from the Simon Pegg paradox of I love he’s getting more screen time but I think the movies become a little too gagged and takes away from the intensity also why is Jeremy Renner in these movies he does fuck all, absolutely useless.

The most eighties movie ever ever seen and it’s also a kickass vampire movie with a brilliant soundtrack.

I liked this a lot more than I expected. First off that soundtrack is brilliant it totally immerses you into the experience while also being able to be pretty frightening. I also loved the Boardwalk funnily enough the same Boardwalk KILLER KLOWNS FROM OUTER SPACE is filmed at so that was pretty damn cool. For me personally the key highlight is Corey Feldman & Jamison Newlander there deliveries kill me with constant comic relief truly makes this such a strange and special movie.

Kiefer Sunderland is also great in this he’s intimidating, seedy and gothic perfectly fitting the mould of an 80’s Vampire. I also liked that it stayed true to most vampire lore while trying to poke fun at the genre.

This one was great.

This is possibly the best looking so far in the series and also the action was amplified and it works brilliantly while also having a decent plot. I really enjoyed practically this entire movie I feel as if the third acts the weakest part but I still love it. Brad Birds direction is superb and really highlights everything great about this series. I also love that this movie embraces the corniness of the series and doesn’t attempt to be something it’s not. That inclusion of Ving Rhames at the end was legendary that but is one cool motherfucker. I also love how they didn’t kill off Michelle Monaghans character, it gives Hunt much more of an emotional depth.

I have some problems as already stated the Third Act is definetly the weakest and I feel the new additions aren’t really great (Renner & Paula Patton). Although I love Simon pegg especially in this character and really enjoy how he gets more screen time I’m not the biggest fan of how funny this movie attempts to be, I wanted something just a little more darker.

A truly isolating, cold and empty film which highlights the alienation of so called ‘outsiders’ and also being a twisted coming of age story based around maturity.

What makes this movie so great 3 words Brain Fucking DePalma. It’s impeccable direction and quite possibly one of my favourite showings of a director ever it’s all done so meticulously, this movie is wonderfully crafted and created so many feelings of horror, embarrassment and sorrow through DePalma. He’s one of the very few directors whose work never becomes a parody of himself it’s always stylised yet never self indulgent unlike many directors working today. Great fucking directing.

I also love the score in this movie composed by Pino Donnaggio it’s horrifyingly sad and actually sends shivers down my spine. Sissy Spacek also puts in a wonderful performance as Carrie.

Highly recommended!!!!

How do people consider this the worst out of the franchise?

Seriously from the first three ive watched this was by far my favourite it’s darker, edgier more action heavy and even sprinkles in some great comic relief while also having an emotional story. I think my love for this one may trickle down to my love for PSH and how menacing he is in this role he is pure unadulterated evil and I’m all here for it, personally he’s my favourite part of this film and the three scenes he has with hunt are the most intense, emotive and compelling moments of the film. I also loved how this one was much more action focused to there’s some truly great action sequences and set pieces in here that work so well. Cruise also gives a much better performance has he’s given much more of a complex hunt who’s trying to keep two lives at once. Michelle Monoghan also works great and I was truly invested in her and Ethan’s story, Ving Rhames remains one ice cold motherfucker and I love all the new additions to the cast.

Thank you J.J Abram’s for this movie as it fucking rules and it’s by far my favourite movie so far in the series.

A mild action film which spends the majority trying to convince us that Ethan Hunt is a normal human being and top shagger while also  completely disregarding the entire predecessor.

It might just be me but this movie sucks the action is subdued and lacking while all the characters are paper thin. The Villains aren’t menacing or intimidating enough for an action movie that tries and feels like a bond film. Cruises performance also goes into that stage of creepy cruise where his smile and movement creates this fake, artificial feeling to Hunt and tears apart his character from the first. This is only my second MI but does Ethan Hunt just change personality in each movie?

John Woo’s direction is terrible it fails at what makes the first so compelling even though that like this has a terrible exposition problem all due to how good Brian DePalma’s direction is.

Fuck This.

A film that’s clearly not made for me, it attempts to make points on the fragility in class, superficiality & stupidity in youth and the effects of addiction and how we always succumb to it.

As I already stated this movie is so far away from me and I can understand why people like it, however personally I find the humour to fall very flat and actually irritate me more and more. It might just be because how unfunny I find Pete Davidson but this best part of this movie was him dying, he’s an absolute melt and his performance in this is so aggravatingly bad. To be fair to Pete it’s not just his performance I find terrible I find every single performance in this laughably bad, it’s so forced, unnatural and reminds me of coronation street in its dramatic and tense scenes completely taking me out.

It might just be the writing possibly I find that it does no favour towards its cast with it just being so utterly awful and is also clearly written about modern 20 something year olds by 30-40 year olds because how strange some of the jokes they make in this. I hope a 30-40 year old wrote this because at least it would make sense on why the writing sounds completely strange and synthetic.

I understand why people like this unfortunately just falls flat completely for me.

A film that explores Human Nature, Social Construct’s and Language.

I expected a lot worse but man am I glad I was wrong because this was fantastic. I think the main credit goes to the Four Leads who are all sensational they have the perfect mix of superficiality quickly turned into hysterical antics revealing how horrible and imperfect these four are. It almost remind me of 12 Angry Men in a way of only the one setting and yet it’s still so damn compelling while also being hilarious.

A gripping coming of age social commentary which epitomises the Skinhead culture in England in 1983 and the underlying jealously shaped into patriotism through the use of Manipulation & Exploitation.

This movie is powerful, gritty British cinema and it speaks volumes for much of the shite being produced now by British media. This film is so great in its storytelling and narrative the first 40 minutes is this sweet coming of age comedy on the troubles of growing up as a young teen in the early eighties, then STEPHEN GRAHAM shows up in a performance that was deserving of at least an Oscar nomination and suddenly it becomes this horrible and disturbing social drama on the prejudice of England and how easy it can become to be Exploited to these simple brainwashing tactics much like that of the Nazis towards Jewish people.

This Movie is a clear representation of Britain and the underlying racist tones still seen today, it’s sad how true this movie still is, thousands of kids every year are brainwashed into believing that our problems start with who’s skin colours different from who’s and it’s sad to see how much violence is caused by something so outdated and evil. The ending to this movie is such an underrated ending not only Combo finally showing his true intentions to Milky as he feels so much disgusting envy towards a black man that he actively has to beat him to death while screaming the N word but also showing Shawn how wrong this is, the movie ends on a slightly positive note as Shawn throws the England flag in the sea and gives the movie hope that this future generation of England won’t be like the past. This will be a New England.

A Powerful Drama packed with rich and grounded dialogue with amazing performances and fantastic direction all the while having some beautifully dull cinematography conveying the British Council Estates environment.

A slow burning unconventional western that truly awakens and unravels itself in your mind creating an isolating and chilling watch.

This film is fucked up, it’s possibly one of the most gruesome films I’ve ever watched. The disturbing thing about it isn’t the graphic quality of it all but the slow disparity of the characters, there’s one scene in particular I know will play in my mind for years, it’s possibly one of the most upsetting and harrowing scenes I’ve ever watched while also being as equally heartbreaking.

This Film is so special not only is its ballsiness and boldness of being quite subdued and timid for the first hour and a forty five ish minutes (which I thinks works incredibly well in its favour) of just four men travelling the quiet west in search of a tribal of Indians yet it so slowly and expertly spirals into this gruesome psychological horror movie wonderfully this is the epitome of a film I love great performances with a somewhat basic premise yet unravels into something batshit crazy. This movie also has some wonderful cinematography and dialogue it makes the world feel so much more lived in and real, also making the pain, disparity and suffering so much more intense and difficult to watch and handle.

A Great Film. Recommend

An Intense & Gritty film which asks big questions like what is life, what is the purpose of life and do we really matter.

What I love about Michael Mann films are never the big action sequences in his films (however all of them are dope as fuck). Rather I always think about how great of a spectacle he creates through his flawless rich and powerful direction shown over an illustrious career. The conversations his characters have are always so deep and engaging to me. Collateral is no different with without a doubt some absolutely marvellous performances as Cruise and Fox bounce off each other so well and create an extremely captivating watch. Cruise as the Nihilistic and Dehumanised Vincent and Foxx as Max the comionate however puny and almost substandard like. Their Dynamic creates this film. Cruise gives one of my favourite performances from his as he goes against his usual archetype in a brilliantly nuanced manner.

Vincent is such a unique character through cruise’s performance translates this spiteful character who has a horrible outlook on the world but gives you so much more to deal with. To me Vincent has been dehumanised and although unforgivable he clearly isn’t intending to hurt anyone who he either isn’t getting paid to or hasn’t shot first. Although his uprightness over what he does reveals his true self. His justification to max as how flawed the human race is, how none of it matters anyway, people die in war every day so why should Max be upset over vice versa. To me that’s not something that he as always thought, I think Vincent as stated and heavily implied in the film was a Lawyer who became so dehumanised who he was defending and forced to help decided to take matters into his own hands and prevent these people from walking the streets, although I’m not stating anything groundbreaking here. I think that Vincent is such a great character because of how broken he has become, his death scene is so cathartic for Max but for Vincent he’s proven right at the end of the day he’s just another dead guy on a train.

Fantastic. Recommend + Tom Cruise runs a lot

A creepy, toxic and downright vulgar film that showcases the Entitlement Men have while also being a crude and crass comedy.

First of as much of this movie has its good moments, that terrible ending outshines anything, as much as I root for Ben stiller Ted is a creep and unlikeable, unfortunately falling into a strange column of being a genuinely good man yet is so infatuated with Mary that he can’t actually see how wrong his behaviour is, him carrying around a picture of her for 13 years is so weird. That ending is so underserved and unfortunately shows the sad reality of women today, that happy ending isn’t so happy when you realise Ted & Mary really don’t know each other that well and he was already dangerously obsessed with her, how will it be in 1 year if she broke up with him. It’s a strange decision for the ending and leaves you with a bad taste in your mouth

Although how bad the ending is, I think this is e funny movie. The dog fights are great, the ending of them all singing why don’t you build me up buttercup, the beginning and my favourite scene being the entire prison/dogging/hitchhiker sequence it really showcases how funny Ben stiller is.

All round pretty funny.

A quirky offbeat pathos of greed, corruption and shallowness and its redemption through kindness and sacrifice.

Although many will hate this, me personally as a Wes Anderson Glazer I loved it, I’m loving his new work with us much more existential, deep and profound. He’s so good at writing the Shallow, Narcissistic Dad trope and reflecting on the redemption in different ways. This is also one of his funniest films everyone in the cast has at least one great line. Cranston and Hanks at basketball is a personal favourite however.

Anderson has became so stylistically in tune with the movies he wants to make, it’s refreshing to see a director be so ionate about his own work even itting that sometimes it can effect what it wants to make badly. I personally love Anderson and he’s one of my favourite filmmakers partially due to that style. I love the quirkiness. I live for it.

Many won’t like this but i would like to state everyone should give this a shot.

A beautiful portrait and outlook on the iration and love can bring and its slow metamorphosis into Control, Possession and obsessiveness.

I think this movie is one you need to watch more than once, it’s so deep and intense that it’s hard to gain everything on a first watch because of how beautifully crafted this movie is, it takes you back. Phantom Thread is a movie you may not like the first time you watch it, but it slowly ferments into your mind and doesn’t leave. It’s got everything.

DDL & Vicky Krieps have so much chemistry both as partners and comically with some fucking hilarious scenes. I think many also forget how naturally funny DDL actually is, this is not only one of my favourite movies but my favourite DDL performance because of how audaciously different and perfected it is. Vicky and Mansveille are also awesome. The score is quite possibly my favourite ever. House of woodcock is definetly my favourite particular score made for a movie.

A classic tale of revenge told through the eyes of a father while also showing the traumatic experiences of parenthood and life as a frontiersman in the early 19th century.

There’s really not much I can say about this movie partially because I’m drunk and partially because it doesn’t have much to say. It makes much points about the right and wrong of vengeance while also exploring deep rooted cultural differences yet doesn’t do much with it.

DiCaprio and Hardy are both fantastic and I’m disappointed the latter never won an Oscar because he is brilliant in this film and doesn’t fall down to the masterclass from DiCapio who plays this tortured mentally and physically frontiersman to perfect display in a disturbing performance, the movies also packed with some squirmish level make up and brilliant cinematography.

A fantastic homage to classic westerns in the shape of an out of water opportunistic chameleon on his quest of belonging, purpose and identity.

This movie is not only sprinkled with classic western conventions and movie references. While also having amazing vocal performances from a truly stellar cast. Most notably Johnny Depp as Rango, Isla Fischer as Beans, Bill Nighy as Rattlesnake Jake and Timothy Olyphant does a fantastic impression of The Man with no Name in one of my favourite scenes in an animated movie that I always fondly as a young boy.

I would also like to state that this movie has some of the most beautiful animation I have ever seen. A film that focuses on the history and culture behind growing up and living in the bronx and the dangerous streets amongst it while also being a fantastic coming of age between figuring out what’s right and wrong.

For a first feature directorial debut from DeNiro it’s actually pretty good. Of course adapted from Chazz Palminteri’s own life and theatre show, it’s really hard to not see how good both him and DeNiro are in this movie, there scenes together steal the show. While I think there presence are missed massively. I also loved this Films use of Music (most of the time) it really immerses you and is also great at the ground building while really exploring the culture of Italian and Black heritage especially as the movie proceeds.

However there are some things I really don’t like about this movie. For me Lilo Brancato is terrible in this half of his lines sound like he’s reading the script of cue cards it’s a real shame they decided to go with someone who looked like DeNiro instead of someone who can act. The tender and emotive scenes of this movie are ruined by him and it actually took me out of the story. The Younger Calergo is great in this however. My second dislike was some of the dialogue I’m not sure if maybe it was Lilo’s delivery or if the writing was plain bad it’s unrealistic, lazy and derivative. DeNiro use of music although sometimes working in his favour clearly taking inspiration from Martin Scorsese is used really weirdly at some points it works really well and other completely disrupts any tension or atmosphere created.

It’s not bad. But it’s certainly not great

A Disturbing, Morbid and downright disgusting movie while also being an accurate representation of how masculinity breeds toxicity while also being a rich social truth on the experiences of women in society.

The Horrible fact of this movie is that this is an extremely accurate portrayal of how Men actually are almost every man in this is movie is somewhat a misogynist, Both AJ and frank are much worst than merely misogynist’s they are literal pieces of shit who deserved everything they got. But even Keith he appears to have this nice guy act and he does clearly have a nice attention but he consistently speak down to Tess and also sees himself as Superior by the constant disregard for her rejection of the Tea or a Drink and still does the deed anyway while also playing into Social Constructs that are so unmodern and sexist. He even has that weird linger on feeling while he keeps waiting to see if there’s a possibility for sex, The argument for Keith is that he may do this subjectively I mean the sad reality is we live in a world we’re people like AJ are bred into believing that 1. Not only is what they’re doing okay because it was one moment of weakness but 2. They still think they can get away with it, horrifyingly probably will.

Other than the great social message and some actual morbid scenes within this I think this movie is all round pretty good. You can tell it’s Creggers first feature as I feel that there’s many plot choices and directorial changes that really weaken the movie, mostly the ending which just feels super rushed because of how much time they chew up in the middle leaving us with a little bit too fast paced ending personally. There’s always something so tragic about a DePalma film. He’s one of these filmmakers that create tension and emotion so easy through his clear style. This reminds me so much of my favourite DePalma in 1981’s Blow Out. Packed with a great performance by Al Pacino the movie follows the themes of redemption and aspiration as it takes us through the gritty crime underworld in New York with a key message of our past will always stain our future.

This is how you make a movie, this is a movie I think I will come back to time and time again. Im enamoured by it to some capacity. That ending is heartbreaking the beautiful reaches a crescendo and then we hear me and suddenly we are took back at what this movie is. Is Carlitos death deserved? In the grand scheme of things yes. However, the real issue is that once your in that life it’s an impossible task to get out as proven by Klenfield’s case. A fantastic performance from Sean Penn as this Weasley scumbag who you hope the worse for as the movie progresses. His weakness and vulnerability yet power and money is something so frightening to me and is brought fantastically to life by Penn in a man who is a true scoundrel. As Carlito tells him you ain’t a lawyer any more you’re a gangster. Something that will never change, Klenfield laughs but I don’t think he actually realises the true extent of never being able to be fully comfortable and always have your head turned and to be cautious everywhere.

Although how heartbreaking I think it’s somewhat hopeful. I think deep down carlito knew for both Gail and his future child to have a happy life. He couldn’t be there, he would put them both at risk. His monologue at the end is of simple content of what he is and what he’s done knowing full well that although his dream failed he achieved in the end. He created a new life for Gail one where she doesn’t have to dance for the perverts and gangsters of the world, but freely symbolised by her dancing on a beautiful beach. Carlitos life has came full circle as shown by the repetition of the first and last scene.

I Loved this, strongly recommend.

This was really cool to see the making of one of my favourite movies.

I think watching this one thing is to say is how horrible this movie must’ve been to make it looks as distressing as the actual movie itself. Kubrick I see as innovative genuine one of a kind genius however you can’t excuse the torment and cruelty he put Shelley Duvall through. Although I think this makes it evidently clear and something that I’ve thought for a long time is Stanley’s hatred of acting and how unnatural he viewed it. I think he always wanted authenticity and like Cruise on the set of eyes wide shut he knew to have Duvall play this tortured character for such a long stretch and make her performance believable he needed to put Duvall in that sort of an environment. I personally think that’s totally wrong and unfair. It’s actually just fucked up. Rest in Peace Shelly, it’s pretty disheartening listen to her talk about the making of this movie. The constant harassment and abuse she faced shouldn’t have happened.

i loved watching Kubrick and Nicholson at work it was such a cool collaboration and you can truly feel the sense of iration each other have for one another. I loved the oner as it went around the three tables of Shelly and Nicholson running through their lines separately on purpose while Stanley sat and wrote lines on a typewriter. Little Danny Lloyd is also hilarious and his performance In the shining was great and I’m glad to see he had no ill feelings towards making this and actually looked back on it quite happily.

This Was Super Cool.

A great return to the franchise having memorable kills and having some great build up all the while being enjoyable. This also has a fantastic soundtrack with it having recognisable and memorable songs adding to the atmosphere.

However I feel the ending lets it down as it’s too convenient and sort of just resolves without an actual ending. The humour is cheesy but what do you expect. Overall I didn’t mind this at all and found a lot of fun within it.

Watching this makes me so glad how competent of a filmmaker Quentin Tarantino is and how well handled Jackie brown really is. He knew his film would never upstage pulp fiction so he never tries to. Instead he uses great writing and truly remarkable characters to make a truly memorable story and one of my favourite crime movies ever.

The Movie follows themes of Paranoia, uncertainty and fear through various imperfect characters has they all face different and unique situations culminating into a gritty and dark yet comical story.

I’m not exactly sure what to talk about first. Because of how enamoured I truly am with this movie. This has one of my personal favourites love stories between Jackie and Max too people who are in totally different spectrums of life Jackie is a middle aged African American woman who is in an uncomfortable situation as she is worried about ageing, money and ordell. Max is a mild mannered mid 50s gentleman who runs his own successful company yet wants more out of life. The spectacle between them is so great because of how deep and slow their conversations are. I think this is Tarantino’s most profound movie and i think ill need to rewatch the hateful eight because I think this is his best writing to date. That ending is also heartbreaking max and Jackie both know that they can’t ever be together. Max is too desperate and Jackie well she’s too uncontrollable, they love each other but both have hindsight and experience to tell them that this just won’t work. Their age plays such a vital role because it has such intelligent discussions and both are clearly clever in different ways.

That leads me on too my favourite part about this film, although I love Sam Jackson has ordell and think it’s one of his best roles to date. I think he is in such a weird category because he is so great but is outshined in almost every seen by either Richard Forester, Pam Grier or who I’m going to speak about Robert DeNiro.  Listen DeNiro is a fantastic actor, yet personally I’ve always thought he was a little overrated I love him to bits and ire his artistry but I can’t help but have this strange feeling that I always feel there’s a little too much hype. Great Actor 1000% but one of the best ever? I’m not so sure. However I fucking love his performance in this movie and think it’s one of the best of his career other than Raging Bull, Taxi Driver or a personal favourite in the king of comedy. His subtlety in this movie is phenomenal he embodies Louis a washed up bum living off of ordell after a long stretch in prison. Louis is clearly having the same problem both Jackie and Max are going through of accepting ageing and coming to with who you are and what you have done. Yet he doesn’t have the benefit of experience and hindsight he’s practically a lost teenager, he spent so much of his life inside prison he’s became somewhat anti-social, lost and even erratic showing by his emotional outbursts he can’t accept what he is. Leading to his death, that last line from ordell solidifies Louis’ last 20 years “what have you became” although ordell meant crime wise as he’s became slower and less reliable I think it’s much more deeper imaging that being the last words you ever hear in your life as you soon realise that this is what I am and this is how I lived that life. It’s heartbreaking Louis is a misogynistic piece of shit who is a bum living off his arm dealer pal. Yet even he has to come to with who he actually is.

For me personally this film has a heavy reflectiveness of acceptance almost every character that dies in this, dies from a lack of acceptance.

It’s Deep, personal and emotional while having a cast of characters that make this world feel lived in. I love this and feel it’s heavily underrated and genuinely one of tarantinos best

A really Melancholic and bittersweet movie on familial sacrifice, interpretation and forgiveness.

I loved the holdovers and yes it was my first Desplat and I know it wouldn’t be my last. This didn’t exactly work for me. I really loved certain aspects some of the scenes In this done more for me than the holdovers. There was a couple of fantastic scenes in this met with a great score, soundtrack, atmosphere and cinematography. It helped create a warm yet distant feeling and I enjoyed the colour scheme it was just so drop dead gorgeous. I also love Hawaii as a whole place in general and love movies centred around it.

However, how this won best screenplay is beyond me I found the script to be very dull, weak and borderline lacking in substance. I wasn’t particularly fond of the characters I questioned their decisions constantly he makes a point about one thing yet does the other. Yes I loved the message in general and the scenes with Robert Forester, Judy Greer and Mathew lilard are some of my favourites because of how emotional heavy they are but man I didn’t like this script. Some of the writing was weak and derivative.

I had fun however and i recommend it.

A quirky, surreal and raucous comedy that focuses on themes of loneliness, the preservation and remembrance of art and the death of defining qualities and humanity under facist regime.

Man this movie is great. It’s Anderson at his most unique and figured out while having an excellent plot with exceptional performances. Ralph Fiennes gives one of my favourite performances ever as M. Gustave a camp, aesthete. Fiennes gives such an in depth performance of almost a memory of a person. Just like how Gustave re poetry, Zero/ Mr Mostafa re M. Guatave. The colour scheme, sets and backgrounds are all so different and beautiful that this movie is a delight to watch in both plot wise and creative wise.

I love that ending because of how sad it is, this story is recited by Mostafa almost fairy tail like with big, bright bold colours until that last monologue and suddenly the colour turns darker along with the tone. That last scene with Zero and Fiennes is black and white because it reflects the dark memories of Moustafas life. A beautiful tale of friendship suddenly hits the audience with a true heartache. Being Alone, Mostafa is left with riches he didn’t want, left with castles, art and hotels all you can ever want right? Moustafa’s real assets was that life that was once almost as pretty as a picture.

I also love that line about Fiennes’ character coming into a world he was too old for, not only does it perfectly encapsulate the man he is but also shows the true depth of Zeros iration for him. He saw him beyond a human level, he was a heroic figure one from the books.

A Great Movie

The best project marvel have put out in years. It’s dark, different and doesn’t take itself too seriously. It also superbly focuses on themes of depression and guilt handled perfectly

I wasn’t originally going to see this but man am I glad I did. This was a lot of fun, while also being something we haven’t seen before in a marvel film. I know many including myself didn’t like black widow however what I did love was the characters, both yelena and alexie are played perfectly and are so much fun on screen im glad that their lore and relationship was expanded in this movie because i enjoy their characters so much. Sebastian Stan as Bucky was as cool as ever, Wyatt Russell is also great and Bob is a great addition.

Although I’ve lost my way with marvel over the last 5 years maybe due to me growing up or how bad I ended up finding their projects as of how saturated it became. I think thunderbolts is a perfect step in the right direction and I look forward to fantastic four in July.

All that being said the movie still has its problems I found the movie to be around 20 minutes too long and that’s probably because they could’ve shortened the start.

However I think many should give this a chance. I promise you’s will enjoy it + Florence Pugh Is a goddess and is great in this.

This seems to have many divided. So am I as well I can’t tell if I enjoyed the absurdity and obscurity on reflection, toxicity and taking ability or not.

I enjoyed many things. Ortega despite having her haters I enjoyed her performance she makes the most of some terrible dialogue. I also enjoyed the films transitions, and sound design were all incredible and that ratio felt so confining and restricting. Perfect.

Despite these positives for me Barry Keoghan is heavily under utilised and I thought he was great and wanted more of him. Abel (the weekend) can’t act. It was cringe, forced and felt uncomfortable watching him it. The lighting also gave me about a gazillion migraines and from someone who heavily suffers seizures I felt like I was about to have a spasm by the movies flashing and editing.

It was alright. I will either love it or hate it on another watch.

This Film is perfect example on the social divide in class and colour throughout America while focusing on themes of power, respect and corruption.

First of it’s virtually impossible to watch training day and not talk about anything else other than than Denzel Washington’s performance as Alonzo Harris a truly incredible character brought superbly to life by a riveting, nuanced and rich performance by Denzel. Honestly would love to someday go into a deep dive on alonzo’s character on my YouTube one day. The thing I find so compelling with alonzo is his search of respect on both the streets and as a cop, an impossible task as both intervene with one another on a daily basis. He often finds respect confused with power and fear eventually leading to his own demise. The King Kong scene although captivating and powerful is also one of the only times I think a massive shouty outburst really works and isn’t over exaggerated and over performed. Alonzo’s entire world falls down in this one scene his police life symbolised through the removal of the badge and the street gun to his head. An immaculate fucking outburst only rivalled with Phoenix in the master and Day-Lewis in there will be blood.

Denzel glazing over. I also love hawkes performance in this as he is just having one hell of a day. His tiredness and sluggish body language yet the unwillingness of his voice to let alonzo away with this makes for a truly great watch and I honestly think just like Paul Dano in there will be blood or the master with Philip Seymour Hoffman. Day Lewis’, Washington’s and phoenix’s only work because of the three next to them. I also love that final line where they speak about alonzo and all his decorations and achievements as an established police officer and hero. It reinforces the true tragedy and meaning behind the movie of the corruption of the police force. We expect that all things will turn fair and justice will be handed out, However alonzo being ired as a hero teaches the true lesson to Jake. The streets will never be clean neither the police force, in a strange way Jake’s naivety of right and wrong is now blurred in the right way. He knows when to turn his back and when to face the music.

A fantastic movie.

An intriguing and suspenseful watch kicking off and being my first of the series.

De Palmas direction is help create the paranoia with some great camera and editing all been stylish and recognisable. The story is also pretty dang interesting with Ethan hunt being a 3 dimensional character, nice to see considering what I’ve heard about the franchise.

Ving Rhames being a hacker is one of my favourite things about this movie as it’s so unexpected but works superbly well. I’m looking forward to spending the next week watching every mission impossible as the whole world prepares for final reckoning.
