If you ever wanted to see a film where Krampus does a superhero landing on one hand and knee, this is your film

Is there a more perfectly fun, "geek culture" scifi film? I think not! I have watched this movie probably a hundred times and can easily watch it a hundred more -- it never gets old!
It loves the material and the people it is satirizing, it's part of the joke even as it makes the joke, it honors scifi and "nerds" as much as it has fun with it. It's good-hearted, comes from a positive place, while at the same time calling out tropes and cliches. But it loves those tropes, too.
It will always be among my favorites, always!
When a film has such universal acclaim, saying "it's not a good film" certainly makes one question their own judgement. But I've considered and re-considered, and I just really can't help but think it's terribly overrated and just not a good film. It's not that it mixes a surreal, arthouse style with realistic wartime portrayal -- I like that. I like the presenting the nightmare of war and human cruelty like a literal nightmare.
