One reason why this giddy film works so well is that any self-awareness or reminders that we’re here ten years later are kept to an absolute bare minimum. No one’s winking at the camera or wasting any time cracking jokes that will fade as the film gets older. Everyone’s here to have a good time and you’ll enjoy these ABBA tunes, dammit. If you really looked closely between this film and its predecessor, there are holes where things don’t match…
