The Lodge will be dogged by Hereditary comparisons (motherly horror, creepy dollshouses) but it's more than that thanks to doom-laden religiosity and cleverly ambiguous sympathies. Didn't stick the landing for me, but I liked the glimpses of apocalyptic nuttiness

What's the point?

Is Endgame even a movie? It's an event, a culmination, an ending. As a film, it has its flaws -- and hangs the zenith of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe on a particularly massive cheat. But it's just such a great time at the movies, with such a great crew of characters -- who feel by this point more like friends -- that it totally, joyously works.

One does not simply make a biopic about JRR Tolkien and the inspiration behind Lord of the Rings. Fans will enjoy spotting the references, but the real story is about a generation scythed down by war.
