I had no idea what this film was about going into it. The title intrigued me, I hadn’t even seen a trailer for it. This is exactly how I like, how I prefer, to see a movie the first time: knowing as little about it as I can. The cinematography is gorgeously intimate. The performances are subtle and nuanced. The songs are rich and sweet, poignant and catchy. This was an absolute joy to watch. A brilliant film of complex emotions and vibrant personalities. I just wish it had been longer. Like another little mermaid, I just wanted more.

Definitely derived from a work by William S Burroughs. Wild and trippy period piece with music which is so anachronistic that it only adds to the surreal dreamlike quality of the whole experience. CGI backgrounds that look painted, or is it painted backgrounds that look CGI - again this just adds to the whole thing being a drug induced fever dream. Yep, William S Burroughs.

Set up as a stereotypical slasher movie, stereotypical to the point of cliche actually. And then it twists into something very different, only to devolve into exactly what it was initially trying to separate itself from. Sure there are some nifty twists, but it is still just another cliche slasher horror film.
