Daniel Pollock’s review published on Letterboxd:
This one was surprising! Did not expect to enjoy it as much as I did. Overall it was a pretty solid heist-style movie with the prerequisite double crosses, rivalries, high speed chases, high intensity infiltrations and wisecracks, but it brought two unique factors; for one, it never shied away from its roots as a fairytale, with the central item of interest cleverly shown to be the goose that lays golden eggs (with her gigantic mum providing the highlight as she unceremoniously tosses a poor bather, tub and all, through the sky), and other elements of the classics added. Additionally, at the centre of the story is the love of two orphans, both striving to make a better life for themselves, both arguably betrayed by the other. It is a central relationship with a greater complexity than you usually see in kids movies, with a moral ambiguity that many adult movies don't achieve. On top of this, it shows great reverence for its source material. Yes, that is Humpty fucking Dumpty I'm talking about. Funny, thoughtful and got a tear or two out of me (I was quite hungover though). It's worth a watch.
