AT LEAST EVERY ADRIEN BRODY CHARACTER I CAN GET MY HANDS ON (will update as I embark on my journey)

Since I was a wee lad I've loved Neil Cicierega and I would constantly rewatch Brodyquest... I was that MLG XD kid...

BUT NOW!!
I've gotten back into him... I live laugh love Adrien Brody... And I plan to watch all of his films!! So..

1. The Darjeeling Limited

   Adrien Brody is PETER WHITMAN, a man dealing with the loss of his father, trying to reconnect with his remaining family on a spiritual trip to India, all of which (for the most part) is not working for him

   I'LL KEEP IT BRIEF I HAVE A STORY:
   I was watching this with my mom and she DOES NOT really like Wes Anderson OR Adrien Brody in the slightest. But when the scene at the River (EEP!! SPOILERS)

   When the scene at the river came on, Peter saying through shaky words, "I couldn't save mine." It RESONATED with her, and I was really surprised.

   She never found Wes characters sympathetic, telling me they always seemed to be lacking emotion, but when I asked her why she said:

   This one has the most heart out of all his films, I felt the despair through that, it's so sad... The brothers (the kids that almost drowned) are like them (the Whitmans)! Jason (Schwartzman) even saved the small one! Cause he's small! :(

   Safe to say I actually agreed with my mom on a Wes Anderson take for once, that's the same reason I gravitate towards Peter, he's just so jaded and sympathetic.

   I'll cut this short now, all I'll say is this: Though Jack is the brother I associate myself with the most, Peter is the one I like the best. I don't know if that makes any sense WELL it does to me and this is my list then so ha. Him and his brothers are probably my favorite characters in the Wes Anderson canon. ARGUE WITH THE WALL!!

2. The Grand Budapest Hotel

   Adrien Brody is DMITRI, a greedy bastard who will stop at NOTHING!! to get what is rightfully his!! (Not really his but that's what he thinks in his deluded mind so let a girl live her dreams)

   Him and Willem Dafoe in this!! Dmitri's probably what got me into Adrien Brody the ACTOR, not just Adrien Brody... The PNG in the Lemon Demon video. This humanized Adrien Brody for me.

   He's also probably bisexual. Is it just me or do almost all Brody characters radiate this strange bisexual energy (say in tone of Gina Linetti)

   Eitherway, yes very fun, yes very memorable, yes very entertaining, that's the same thing as fun, I LOVE YOU WES ANDERSON!! I WILL GLAZE YOU!! FOREVER!!!

3. The Pianist

   Adrien Brody plays classical musician, WLADYSLAW SZPILMAN, an altogether average man forced to weather the brutality of the Holocaust, losing more than he could ever fathom..

   So I like this movie a lot.. This quite possibly is Brody's best performance.. ON A TECHNICALITY: I cannot name this number 1 on my list (FOR NOW THAT MAY CHANGE) because he's a real guy!! And that just feels iffy to say like "He's so hot and this is such a thought provoking role!!" REAL HUMAN by the way..

   Then again I ship(ish) Mclennon and Dylharrison so I mean to each his own

4. Dummy

   Adrien Brody is STEVEN, a young man who quits his mundane job as an office worker to pursue his dream profession:

   VENTRILOQUY!!

   ID BE LYING IF I DIDN'T SAY THIS WAS BIASED. ok I know the movie has its flaws, I know, whatever, but AGH, Dummy just is and always will be my comfort movie..

   I LIED. ABOUT BUDAPEST. this is what got me into Adrien Brody

   EEEEK I'm geeking out just thinking about Steven!!! He's so cute!!! And nerdy!!!!! And sweet!!!! And awkward!!!!

5. Detachment

   Adrien Brody is HENRY BARTHES, a substitute teacher who seems to be drifting along in life, never stayjng anywhere long enough to form meaningful relationships.

   Oh my God... this movie bro... I cried an unimaginable amount of tears. My mom is a teacher, and if I'm gonna be honest, I wanted to be a teacher for some time... On another level, I HATE HOW RELATABLE this was to me. I moved schools quite a lot, and I lost a lot of friends from the moves, at one point I gave up for a bit to make close relationships, isolating the friends I'd made beforehand in the process.

   IM NOT LIKE THAT NOW BUT, I mean, even now, I'm literally...

   In general, Brody acted Henry incredibly well. I felt everything, I got all his emotions though his mind was clearly troubled.

   But! This movie does tend to fall into that Memoir Of A Snail trap where I feel like... It's just... Neverending sadness.. Which would typically be a detriment, but Brody plays the main so gracefully, he kept me captivated the whole time, that's for sure! Quite possibly one of his strongest performances, but not necessarily his most rewatchable character? Because I will never touch this movie ever again I will throw up tears

6. Oxygen

   Adrien Brody is HARRY (Houdini?) A man who has distressed housewife s Hannon abducted and buried alive, and when interrogated by a slew of detectives, plays with their heads.

   Pardon my French, my apologies in advance,
   HARRY IS AN ABSOLUTE MANWHORE.

   He's just a diva all the way, watching this with friends was so delightful because NOT ONLY was Harry manipulating Maura Tierney, he was also manipulating us maybe.. We were squirming and writhing in our seats like the worms we are..

   Character wise, I love Harry. ALTHOUGH the movie did drag along at some bits... Even Harry himself was rather generic AT TIMES. Either way, I love Harry.

   WE LOVE HARRY (we all say in unison)

7. Summer of Sam

   Adrien Brody is RITCHIE TRANGALI, a punk rocker who moves back to the Bronx, his new look gains suspicion from his once friendly neighbors, who now think he's the Son of Sam killer and will do anything in their power to stop him from killing again.

   I LOVE PUNK. I LOVE PUNK MUSIC. I don't think I am a punk, or at least, I don't necessarily dress the part... But I love the subgenre and I love when it's represented on the big screen?! As someone who's been listening to and idolizing the likes of Sid Vicious and John Lydon for almost all my life, I think Adrien Brody did a good job playing the part!

   YES HE WAS CORNY. But that gave it all character 💔 don't @ me 💔 XXXTENTACION WHAT IS A FATHER AHH... "It's all about the a e tyude!" He deserved to get jumped (just kidding just kidding)

8. See How They Run

   Adrien Brody is LEO KOPERNICK, a (once bigshot now blacklisted possible communist) director who is tasked with remaking the play (and the book technically) The Mousetrap for the silver screen.
   One issue: he does not like plays. Or books.

   Leo, (forgive me if I'm sounding like a broken record) IS SUCH A CLASS A DOUCHEBAG. For almost.. No rhyme or reason. Except for the fact he works in showbiz. Which is... I mean that's all the reason needed, actually.

   He's sooo sleazy... And sooo stupid... He's probably the least likable character out of all of the characters in in this movie! (Foreshadowing)

   IT REALLY WAS A SURPRISE THOUGH, as I didn't watch any trailers for the movie or anything, WHEN HE DIED.
   I THOUGHT THAT SINCE HE WAS NARRATING HE WOULD BE LIKE... A MAIN CHARACTER. Like this was a noir or something...

   But I will say, I did find him at all times entertaining, very silly, very cocky, and ugh, just the movie as a whole was delightful, it felt like watching knockoff Wes Anderson(?) But for me in the best way possible...

9. King Kong

   Adrien Brody is JACK DRISCOLL (best name maybe), a playwright, a wordsmith perhaps, who unintentionally winds up dealing with the larger than life King Kong in pursuit of the love of his life.

   Gosh!
   HE'S SUCH A DREAMBOAT IN THIS.
   It's like this role is specifically my type in a way that upsets me.

   Okay. So he's a writer. And he's aloof. And melancholic. And gentle. And bookish. And sweet. And romantic. Literally SHOO!

   I'm not sure if I see myself in him or I want to be in him.

   ALTHOUGH THERE WAS A DEALBREAKER.
   He was mean to King Kong for a while. >:(
   PLEASE DON'T HURT MY GOAT!!!

   All in all I would smash. THESE are the roles Brody should be playing bro! Disheveled writers all messy and sad and gentle and romantic... Twirling my hair or whatever...

10. Restaurant

    Adrien Brody is CHRIS CALLOWAY, a struggling playwright who works as a bartender while he waits for his production to pick up, along the way, he gets mixed up with past and present romance drama.

    If I had a nickel for everytime Brody was a playwright, I'd have two nickels! Which isn't a lot, I want more.

    HE GOT WITH LAURYN HILL IN THIS?? Name three Miseducation songs. NOW!! okay no cause why is this guy always grouped up with my goats 💔 I love Ms Hill, really watched this early on in my film bro career to see... HER.. Pleasantly surprised to see Adrien too! Ignore him though! I love my girl!

    OK NO CAUSE why was he Bob Dylan core in this. Like okay... Mysterious writer. That pushes everyone he loves away. And is also really into alcohol. I think that's just how a lot of assholes are though! So!
