A grand, epic-in-scope finale to this film series (if it is truly the last one). The film takes itself very seriously and takes its time with dramatic scenes. It lands solidly in the middle of my overall franchise ranking.

At least two action sequences make IMAX a must for the viewing experience, including an aspect ratio shift that creatively just beat out my previous one in SINNERS.

The road ends here.

If you discount the two-part animated video releases that have been edited together, this movie is the single-most epic (and longest) of all the DC Universe Animated Original Movies, and with its (earned) R-rated, dystopian, no-holds-bar approach, a fitting finale to the DC Animated Movie Universe. This movie pays homage to just about every film in this continuity, and I am so glad I did a rewatch leading up to this film. I may need to sit on it and watch it again, but it may be my favorite of this continuity.

This. Was. Badass.

This is the third female assassin I’ve seen this year following “Gunpowder Milkshake” and “The Protege,” and “Kate” is hands-down the best of the bunch in practically and technically every way. While sharing genre tropes with both these films, they are used to stronger effect here.
