I’ll it I went into this film trying to determine if I thought this one or the first one were the best of the franchise.
It’s the first one for me.
I’m surprised that there were things about this film that I didn’t like as much that I did not , primarily the subplot of Ethan’s wife, Julia.
However, all the elements I loved were still there: Philip Seymour Hoffman’s performance (which I was shocked to see how little he is actually on screen), the practicality of the impossible (making the mask, programming the voice changer, doing the math on screen for a skyscraper jump), and there were characters I forgot either carried through or were introduced in this film.
The cinematography reminded me of a war film at times, and it was a great way of distinguishing it from other entires in the franchise.
Onward to Ghost Protocol!
