NOWHERE is sexy, fun, irreverent and has a STACKED cast that’s a who’s who of the 90s and early 2000s. This movie really goes to show you can make a low budget, independent movie that looks better than a $10million movie if you have a good eye and you commit to your vision. My favorite aspect of NOWHERE is that you can watch it as an absurdist comedy with no subtext and enjoy it just as much as if you dig in to the dark, existential layers within.
Another movie I was pretty surprised not to have heard of before. FLAWLESS is a post-Batman Joel Schumacher era film that tries to blend the crime thriller and the queer found family genres to mixed results. Sure, you come for Robert DeNiro and Philip Seymour Hoffman but you stay for the ing cast who doesn’t quite get enough time to shine, yet ends up stealing the show. Honorable mention to two of our original RENT cast : Daphne Rubin Vega and Wilson Jermaine Heredia.
Watching football players strip down to their jockstraps, showering and baring their hairy asses while singing about going to Dolly Parton’s whorehouse and tap dancing is like the Queerest things I’ve EVER experienced in film and every second of it is a goddamn miracle. I fucking love EVERYTHING about this movie!
