Endlessly lucky we got to screen this excellent film last night at the Garfield alongside the Cincinnati Palestine Solidarity Coalition. Over 110 people came out, and the conversation after led by Mike Madanat was genuinely moving and beautiful.

Kind of beautiful. The people interviewed outside are all so uniquely different in how they answer the same question, “What makes you happy?” Without ever seeming disingenuous or repetitive. Could’ve seen these two nuns interview people across the U.S., but what’s left is an interesting time capsule of people in Chicago. Unshockingly, most people’s sense of unhappiness stemmed from their disapproval of the war in Vietnam. Wonder if there might be some modern similarities…

I Stand With Ukraine.

However, I still the artists and people in Russia trying to survive under a leader that has hurt their nation more than “reclaimed” it. And with that, it was incredibly disappointing to see both a lack of people in attendance for Director Vasilisa Kuzmina and Co-Writer Yulia Gulyan‘s excellent feature debut. One of the most philosophical and impressive music documentaries I’ve seen. I had to write so words of wisdom down during this picture. It’s so rough as a film, but everything within is so strong that it makes the lower budget of the documentary feel more like a defining aspect rather than an actual negative.
