Second rewatch—still really enjoyed the movie. Could’ve done without those insert flashbacks. I also didn’t think the intro was necessary. Even though it gives the movie a folktale vibe, the whole church scene at the very beginning didn’t feel needed. I would’ve preferred if the audience went in completely blind, which is why I love that first teaser trailer—it barely gives you anything about what the movie’s about. Compared to their first movie Talk to Me, this one feels slower and more melancholy. The cast gives great performances and there’s definitely strong chemistry between them. All the characters are dealing with grief or loss in their lives. Even though they’re doing bad things, it is for a greater purpose.
