I put this off for a long time because I really didnt see the point in it and I can’t say my reservations were assuaged.

Part of what made the first trilogy so good is that the Apes were portrayed as still learning. Not fully adept at language and still very much prone to their more wild instincts.

Within the first few frames of this movie, the Apes are speaking and articulating like fully functional human beings and even acting as such. Yeah I get it…..its “Many Generations Later”……Evolution and all…….and their manner of behavior is much more akin to that of the Apes in the original films from the 60s and 70s. But is that a good thing?

I don’t think so.

The spark is lost.
