I being very excited for this movie when it came out, we went as a family to see it. I was 14 going on 15 and I found this movie to be extremely cool. Watching it as a grown up, 25 years later I find that it's cool just not extremely as it's more derivative than original. It has a fantastic soundtrack that keeps the story moving forward in a fun way. I can't help but think how miscast…

Pretty ahead of its time with the empty focus of prominent people (and people in general) on body and looks, and the willingness to do anything for fame and beauty. Meryl Streep holds up well in a comedy environment. Overall, it’s slightly too enthusiastically over the top, but it has more moments that work than not. Sydney Pollack’s few scenes in here are among the best in the movie.
