Weyland Industries Testimonial

2012

Again, the whole using clips of the film as part of these in-universe videos doesn't make sense - although at least in this one they're sort of just scary teases for the film.

The Arrival of a Train at La Ciotat

1896

The Arrival of a Train at La Ciotat is either like the average entrance of a protagonist in future twentieth century movies, or is just the outright opening sequence to a full movie it's not apart of. But compared to The Four Troublesome Heads, I think that movie would be more frightening to somebody completely unsuspecting at the time. Whether or not the driving myth behind this movie is true, I think I got a warped version of this myth growing up, where my father told me people allegedly ran out of the theater screaming when the flying monkeys took off in The Wizard of Oz.

Sallie Gardner at a Gallop

1878

While it sounds like Eadweard Muybridge didn't exactly have an "eureka!" moment, or many other film pioneers for inventing what would become film, it's an interesting story of trying to conquer a theory over something so simple about a horse. I wouldn't find it far fetched to assume some people rejected this film outright in favor of their own belief. Because now, the running parallel is people refusing to see movies if it has CGI.

Now, when you watch this short film that is very upfront with it's seamless-of-the-time visual effects, it made me wonder if magicians themselves were threatened by visual effects. But unfortunately, I can't say I've heard the same success come from magicians of any latest decade. So, maybe by…

Project Prometheus: Mission

2012

A promo short film so lazy it includes clips from at least two other short films, and the movie itself, which logically does not make any sense in the context of this as an in-universe video.

28 Weeks Later: 28 Seconds Later

2007

I understand why they endorsed someone making an official one of these, because if they didn’t someone eventually would’ve done it anyway, but it’s kind of pointless.

This is better than at least two of the Predator movies.
