So I've been waiting over a year to see this movie despite not really know much about it (I will it the main reason I went was because Matthew Lillard was in this and he was great, the whole cast was, but it's such a worthwhile movie overall, I promise).

Honestly having no idea of the plot is kind of was perfect cos it's such a existential, kind of horrifying at times, but really beautiful film that I don't really know how to contextualize (I still have lots of unanswered questions, which I'm afraid is the point), there is a quote that I feel is very poignant to the film

"I contain multitudes"

But yeah you should definitely check it out especially if you're like one of the people I know in real life/LB mutual because I need someone to talk about this with

I still love the TV show (especially season 2) duh that's why I'm here but I can't lie it doesn't beat the comedy that is Phoebe Waller-Bridge performing the Rodent Face™ (I'm literally in my room laying on my bed, ing the face and laughing like a man) or her miming the act of taking a nude (both top and bottom) in the disabled toilet at Fleabag's workplace.

I can't believe I forgot how gay this was, Crystal spends most of the movie with her eyes glued onto Nomi's boobs and if they aren't on her boobs then the eyes are on her fingers which is so interesting to say the least, and then we have a whole thing with the face rubbing with Nomi and Molly.

This movie captures how Las Vegas is a city of gimmicks, the whole idea of a city in the desert that's full of palm trees, palm tree light displays, pyramids, topless clubs, gambling, day drinking, coke (both drink and powder), sports cars, Kyle McLachlan with that fugly hairdo (noooo), alternative universe supermarkets, Zak Bagans' The Haunted Museum, girls talking about chips and dog food. It's so ridiculous but Las Vegas is actual place and this movie captures how bizarre it is, like of course this would happen, of course Nomi as a person would exist in a place like Las Vegas

I just love how everyone's so weird and unapologetic about it like "yeah we think car crashs are hot and we are going to continue thinking car crashes are hot and feel no shame about it, now let's fuck while going full speed against the flow of traffic" like that is insane and amazing.

Also thank you David Cronenberg for adding the gay scenes, I think it's amazing that practically everyone was like bi, and I think it's iconic that James' wife was practically shipping James and Vaughan together

I love a happy film where good things happen, this film as a goal in mind and nails it perfectly

Religion makes people go absolutely off the wall.

It's such a strange and unsettling film, the entire time I feel like there's some kind of rottenness underneath all the crosses and Virgin Mary statues. Nothing feels right and you feel like a fly on wall of dysfunctional household. It's sets out to be disturbing and it achieved it's goal, especially with any scene with Mr. Alphonso, shivers

So a part of me would love to be in a Gregg Araki film because they have the most jaw droppingly beautiful set design I have ever laid my eyes on and the characters and the way they speak is so interesting, I'm obsessed but at the same time I don't want to be there because what the fuck, I'm devastated and kind of confused and really upset, it's really good movie but fucking hell

Yeah I did have a really good time second time around, great movie. I did stay for the second end credit scene this time, I say it's embarrassing to be waiting there while the manager of the cinema is also standing by waiting too (for you to leave)

I think my favourite part was where Parker Posey is wearing a really bad blonde wig with this super glittery outfit and is calling Amy "kitten" and how she is her eternal love slave then threatens to cut Jordan's dick off "like a chicken head" (in the signature Parker Posey voice ofc), because she believes he has brainwashed Amy

You know what I love is a 90s lesbian movie made by a actual lesbian, it's good for my soul especially when the lesbians are working a video store (how tragic that aren't anymore lesbians who work in video stores because they don't exist anymore, I mean the video stores btw, I'm pretty sure there's plenty of lesbians still around)

Anyway I'm very happy I finally got this off the watch list woo for me and all it took was a cold day and my workshift being cancelled because of the weather.

If you have any interest in lesbian film history this is like the quintessential film to watch

You know sometimes what I want on a Friday night, is just to sit in a full cinema to watch a film in 35mm that is full of x-rated action, bullets flying in the air, beautiful soundtrack and some babies being saved from a hostage situation (be sure to put some cotton balls in their ears because it's a very stressful time for them with guns going off everywhere)

In short, fucking awesome film

Came in with high expectations, walk out with my expectations being absolutely blown out of the park.

I love me some vampires and they did not disappoint, I feel like a lot of vampire media forgets about the lore of vampires having to be invited in, it just adds to how unnerving it is to watch them pretend, bargain, and threaten their way in especially when it your love one, it's chilling

I'm so glad that Beverly Sutphin is truly influencing other housewives, let's feminize the murder industry, slay queen (in both meanings of the word)

Just bloody hilarious even more so on second watch, every joke just seems land perfectly, it's so witty and intelligent in how it executes itself it, you might even say it's a bit sick of us to be watching these two guys go through what is essentially the lowest low and we just laughing up a storm or in my case cackling like a witch in the cinema.

I can tell that every movement, every pacing, every line of dialogue is meticulously planned to be part of this joke that is the lives of these guys and I love that, so smart and so pessimistic and so funny. The fact that the 35 mm print is quite old and been used quite a bit and has that really nice glitchiness (is that the world?) that adds to the grittiness and just the dirt that just permanates this film, I'm just obsessed

I still can't decide if I think Withnail is like kind of iconic in a scumbag way or if he deserves to be buried at the bottom of the Mariana trenches

The main reason I watched this is for Laura Dern and she did not disappoint, she is so expressive with her face that it's just a delight to watch her act, and I feel like more people should acknowledge that maybe I'm just in the wrong spaces but where's the around for applause for her acting just saying.

On to the actual movie itself the philosophy around the implications of bringing back creatures that have not been around for millions of years is so interesting, and very true about how "Life Finds a Way" because it does, could very much spell out of humanity if we not careful.

On that note, I really hope no rich farts in this timeline get any ideas because while the rich dude in the film was incredibly reckless, he at least have good intentions but the rich guys we have are like cartoonish evil, they'll currently enjoy harming the people and the planet in most harmful way possible as is. I do not want them to start playing with dinosaurs

So technically I have already seen this minus the last 15 minutes because my brother who is a coward, backed out of the film in last 15 minutes and said to me "we'll watch it tomorrow" then refused to watch it so I never got around to finishing it until today obviously, the irony is he was the one that's suggested the movie in the first place, brothers 😒

To be a little fair towards my brother (only a little bit), it is definitely a really creepy movie like throughout the entire thing first scene and meeting the characters you just know oh something's really bad here, just based off how awkward the interactions with each other are as well as the son having like a imaginary friend (never a good thing in a horror film) who already knows about the creepy hotel.

Throughout the film I did keep thinking about that one Simpsons treehouse of horror episode parody of it and I just think about Groundskeeper Willie calling the Shining the Shinning instead to avoid copyright and now that is what I keep thinking when I think about this movie especially in his Scottish accent

Not to be like "the original is better" or whatever but this has a charm that the remake simply lacks and I think a big part of that charm is the cast, namely Ricki Lake, Tracy Turnblad is her role and she has this real spankiness in her portrayal that the other girl doesn't have.

The remake also has a distinct lack of John Waters' insanity that limits my enjoyment of it, like for God's sake the man himself plays a psychiatrist that runs around with a spinny hypnotizing thing to get Penny to date in her own race which does not work btw, that's crazy but kind of hilarious in the absurdity of it all

You know as someone whose been up for over 24 hours (well minus some because I had some micro sleeps on the plane but shit I'm tired), if I was Nancy and I had to be awake for over a week I think I rather just let Freddy Krueger kill me, because a lack of sleep is truly hellish

So I think the cinema gods love me because explain to me how when I walk out of Shibuya station with the intention to shop like every other tourist in Tokyo right now I come across a cinema that just happens to be doing a one week only anniversary 4K screening of Party Girl, a movie that I just been thinking about the other day on how fun and awesome it was, that is one of the best like coming of age stories that don't involve high schoolers, no hate, I just don't really relate to the struggles of high schoolers anymore, been there done that

However I do relate the impending anxiety of being in your 20s thinking "what am I going to do with my life? what do I want to do career wise or with my relationships? do I keep living this like carefree happy lifestyle or should I knuckle down and focus?" and on top of that Parker Posey is hilarious with how she delivers her dialogue and just her character perfectly accurate for a 20 something year old in the 90s who needs to get her life together and has such great fashion sense (girl where do you get those tights I need to know)

Also just see it on the big screen and just like absorb the music and trying to gauge what like my fellow audience were feeling was great fun, and if you were wondering there were quite a lot of laughs during the birthday party scene with the police officer stripper so I think they might have enjoyed the film. But yeah it was a great way to spend my second last night in Tokyo and I got to go to a cinema so I'm happy and yes I did a Chirashi poster of the film hehe

I would let Sylvia ruin my life, especially with the blue body paint no questions asked.

Me spending like 3/4 of the film thinking I recognize the hot lady with the trinket bra somewhere but where then it hits me like I got a psychic message from the universe or whatever saying "oh my god, she's Isabella Rossellini from Blue Velvet"

Also in actual relation to the movie I love how campy it is, so ridiculous, it's right up my alley

This is just straight up beautiful. As someone who has been pretty lonely throughout my life and also might a slight tendency to hoard (it's not like superbad it's just something I'm aware of) and have a little shopping addiction, that part of the movie really hit close to home I will it

The airplane screen did tell me that this was altered to fit a airplane screen so it's not the exact original so I might have to re-watch it (actually I do but cuz some of it confused me, might be because I been awake since 3:00 a.m. and travelling and had alcohol, doesn't take much to confuse me rn)

I did like the scene where all the victims suggested different ways for him to off himself, that was kind of funny. Very glad that I finally got to take this with my watch list cuz it's been there for a while

Pretty cool to rewatch, was solid movie I really dig the customer, oh my God those flowers in the hat just chef's kiss, I will say I don't entirely get the reason for why some of the frames Qantas decided to add the watermark to it, that kind of ruins the cinematic experience like sure copyright bla bla bla whatever but like bro calm down (but watching it on the plane is not like environment for like seeing something in the best way possible so.....)

Considering how it's Easter, I think about how the scene of Laura Palms murder always feels very religious in a way with the choice of music and just how brutal and ritualistic it is well as her death literally feeding the arm plus the actual religious symbolism of the angels (the ending scene of the angel being quite literally my favorite image of the entire series)
As well as her death representing the unraveling of Twin Peaks. Her death is the catalyst for everything

I feel like by now we all know how important this film is to me. It's just gut wrenching, horrifying and beautiful. I don't think I'll ever get over it

This was probably like one of the most immersive experiences I've had for a film, it felt like I was wobbling with the film (tho I have been working all day and went straight from work to the cinema and then had a alcoholic drink but I do think it was mostly the movie itself).

The animation itself was gorgeous I am obsessed with how it captures the feeling of a dream perfectly, it feels like the animation itself was like liquid if that makes sense

40 years later and the fact that the only real way of escaping all the capitalist bullshit is by day dreaming feels more relevant now.

I think Jill should have had a bit more personality tho but that might have been the whole point, she was the girl of his dreams

(P.s I personally think she should have been a butch lesbian but I think more characters should be butch lesbians so don't take this seriously okay)

I think I find Peter to be more insufferable each rewatch because what do you mean you said "oH wHy DiDn'T yOu LeAvE" she had a gun to her head man, think about context clues for a second

I think the main reason why I've never bothered to watch the TV show is because I find the idea of vampires being in New Zealand of all places to be inherently hilarious and add on the fact that they all speaking with the Kiwi accent, just comedy there.
It becomes significantly less funny when it's in New York, there's a lot of American vampires, been there done that plus I've seen those New York subway videos, I think vampires being in New York is probably the least weirdest thing in that city

Really nice to see it in 35mm tho because it's a old print, it unfortunately was censored but at least the dancing arsehole party scene was still allowed in, I don't know what I would do if it wasn't, it's just perfect okay (also totally unrelated I have a few ideas of what I might want for my 21st birthday party)

You know this is the stuff that dreams are made of and I don't mean that in a "I've achieved my life long dreams yay" way but actually in a "when you fall asleep and your brain makes weird fucking images" way.

Definitely feels like a live stream of Alejandro Jodorowsky's dream, he has some very interesting thoughts about religion and sex, really gorgeous film with some strange and bizarre imagery and some pretty interesting political points as well.

Don't ask me what it's about tho because you just have to watch it, like just sit down and watch it if you really need to know (you may not even completely know after watching it tho)

The the couple who like using food to "make love with" was one of the most funniest things I've ever witness, talk about a couple of food lovers.

It really was a very interesting film about how food is one of the universal experiences of being human and connecting with each other mainly because of the simple fact that we all have to eat.

Also I appreciate the little PSA on how to act in a cinema because I don't want to hear people's chip packets have some decorum and now I'm in the mood for some noodles

I don't know how to feel about it, I'm deeply disturbed and grossed out but I also get it having been a very socially awkward kid and still somewhat socially awkward adult (tho much better now, I can now talk, some would say I never shut up)

Essentially it's about wanting to be seen and have a connection with another human especially when you spend your whole life struggling with making connections, so I relate to that aspect but stuff involving eyes freak me out a lot so that's not fun, usually don't get super freaked out by body horror but I can't do eyes no thank you, that's something that just gets under my skin.

I adore the way that Parker Posey says "ffuck youu" and I want her wardrobe

Just like a super fun film about a girl who really loves to party, I hope to channel her energy when I go to Birdcage on Wednesday.

Such a gorgeous film, I can't believe on how much work would have taken make this film. I can't liar my jaw was like on the floor multiple times at just how stunning some of the shots were.
