You know as someone whose been up for over 24 hours (well minus some because I had some micro sleeps on the plane but shit I'm tired), if I was Nancy and I had to be awake for over a week I think I rather just let Freddy Krueger kill me, because a lack of sleep is truly hellish
The airplane screen did tell me that this was altered to fit a airplane screen so it's not the exact original so I might have to re-watch it (actually I do but cuz some of it confused me, might be because I been awake since 3:00 a.m. and travelling and had alcohol, doesn't take much to confuse me rn)
I did like the scene where all the victims suggested different ways for him to off himself, that was kind of funny. Very glad that I finally got to take this with my watch list cuz it's been there for a while
The main reason I watched this is for Laura Dern and she did not disappoint, she is so expressive with her face that it's just a delight to watch her act, and I feel like more people should acknowledge that maybe I'm just in the wrong spaces but where's the around for applause for her acting just saying.
On to the actual movie itself the philosophy around the implications of bringing back creatures that have not been around for millions…

Oh just to be a effortless cool hot snake vampire woman with her own mansion, a giant strap-on and a whole sacrificial ritual surrounding a big giant worm, yeah that sounds like the life
Me spending like 3/4 of the film thinking I recognize the hot lady with the trinket bra somewhere but where then it hits me like I got a psychic message from the universe or whatever saying "oh my god, she's Isabella Rossellini from Blue Velvet"
Also in actual relation to the movie I love how campy it is, so ridiculous, it's right up my alley
Pretty cool to rewatch, was solid movie I really dig the customer, oh my God those flowers in the hat just chef's kiss, I will say I don't entirely get the reason for why some of the frames Qantas decided to add the watermark to it, that kind of ruins the cinematic experience like sure copyright bla bla bla whatever but like bro calm down (but watching it on the plane is not like environment for like seeing something in the best way possible so.....)

Not to be like "the original is better" or whatever but this has a charm that the remake simply lacks and I think a big part of that charm is the cast, namely Ricki Lake, Tracy Turnblad is her role and she has this real spankiness in her portrayal that the other girl doesn't have.
The remake also has a distinct lack of John Waters' insanity that limits my enjoyment of it, like for God's sake the man himself plays…
