Andrew The Curb’s review published on Letterboxd:
While not Fallen Kingdom bad, Dominion suffers from something worse: being boring.
The film spends far too long on a trite, bland narrative that exists to shoehorn in fan moments and 'Easter eggs' and give minor characters moments of redemption.
With that said, I still had some fun and enjoyed some of the action sequences, even if they'll be rather forgettable in the long run.
Arguably though, the biggest disappointment is that Jurassic World: Dominion had the chance to present a world where dinosaurs and humans coexisted, where domestic dinosaurs existed, and the military had raptors, and yet, it fails to find wonder in that. It fails to find excitement in dinosaurs in the suburbs. And that right there is the biggest shame about this film. Failing to be left in awe of dinosaurs makes the existence of dinosaurs redundant.
Glad this run of JW films is over and they can move onto the next trilogy under a different creative mind. If only Trevorrow got to do Star Wars, he might not have had a chance to muck this up.
Finally - a blockbuster this big shouldn't be spending so much time focused on dino locusts. It felt like we were heading back to The X Files: Fight the Future territory.
