Just when we though BLEAK WEEK: CINEMA OF DESPAIR couldn’t get any bleaker, we’ve gone and secured ourselves the London Premiere of David Cronenberg’s latest feature THE SHROUDS on Monday 16th June!

Tickets are now on sale to PCC for 24hrs!

We’re excited to announce, we’ll be welcoming David Cronenberg’s latest film, THE SHROUDS, to our programme during Bleak Week: Cinema of Despair. Cronenberg’s macabre love story, starring Vincent Cassel (La Haine) and Diane Kruger (Inglourious Basterds) will see its London Premiere during the bleakest of festivals with a special preview screening on Monday 16th June.

The story, set in an eerie placid near-future, follows a techno-entrepreneur named Karsh (Vincent Cassel), who has developed a new software that will allow the bereaved to bear witness to the gradual decay of loved ones dead and buried in the earth. While Karsh is still reeling from the loss of his wife (Diane Kruger) from cancer—and falling into a peculiar sexual relationship with his wife’s sister (also Kruger)—a spate of vandalized graves utilizing his “shroud” technology begins to put his enterprise at risk, leading him to uncover a potentially vast conspiracy.

The film was written following the death of the Cronenberg’s wife, and is both a profoundly personal reckoning with grief and a descent into noir-tinged dystopia, set in an ominous world of self-driving cars, data theft, and A.I. personal assistants. Offering Cronenberg’s customary balance of malevolence and wit, THE SHROUDSis a sly and thought-provoking consideration of the corporeal and the digital, the mortal and the infinite.

Don’t miss the London Premiere of David Cronenberg’s THE SHROUDS on Monday 16th June, during Bleak Week. Tickets are now on sale to PCC for 24hrs. Open to public on Wednesday 21st May 13:00. Get your tickets HERE
