Half a star for the PJ Harvey song playing in the background while the characters are talking about floppy disks. Isabelle Huppert is always great, and it's interesting to see her in an english speaking role!

"Love is all a matter of timing. It's no good meeting the right person too soon or too late. If I'd lived in another time or place... my story might have had a very different ending."
ittedly I was not a fan of In The Mood for Love when I watched it years ago, but after watching this I will rewatch it soon.
There's scenes in this film with Ken Watanabe where he is a trucker and he is listening to the radio drama as it happens, now tell me that this isn't a reference to Tampopo! The dude was the protege of a trucker in that film, and Tampopo herself is somewhere in this film too but I couldn't quite find her.
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
A classic that lives up to its reputation! I'll try to see more Billy Wilder films since I loved this and The Apartment, but this one is a lot darker than the latter. One thing to note is the ending shot of Norma coming down the stairs reminded me of her slow descent into madness, not coming to with her dying career and eventual obscurity. There's a lot to be said about this film but I will go more in-depth when I do a rewatch!

I've been meaning to watch a film made by Satyajit Ray for a while now since he is an acclaimed director, and he does live up to the hype! Although this film felt a bit slow in the beginning, I felt like it was a great film and some of the scenes were uniquely shot as well. I think I'll have to check out the Apu trilogy eventually later this year, but I feel like I will love the rest of his movies.
