An absurdly gorgeous movie. The puppets look so good; I love the grayscale of the land of the living, the Technicolor pop of the land of the dead. Every character's absolutely on point, a perfect piece of design. And the movement of the stop-motion is really lush and smooth, without losing its hand-crafted feel. Visually, it's a beautiful treat, a labour of love.

Incredible how Miller manages to keep up so much sustained frenetic action without it becoming meaningless or dull - it's marvellously juggled, just enough talking to cover the gaps between chase sequences without ever losing momentum. That he's pulled it off twice is witchcraft.
