Beautifully meditative, though its affective power gradually diminished for me over time. The asymmetry of only reading the replies and witnessing one side of the conversation was intriguing, yet I rarely felt compelled to imagine what Akerman herself might have written in return. 

I imagine this was intentional: an invitation to observe rather than inhabit, but it soon grew tiresome. Maybe that's on me, I don't know.

Father Barry smoking as he gets hoisted out of the bowels of the ship yard is now one of my favourite images in cinema. I was hoping for a slightly more dramatic crescendo, as it all together felt slightly rushed.

A lot of fun though and Brando is fantastic.

Ben and I watched this at the cinema yesterday, which I'm grateful for as there's no way that I have the patience to sit through it on a laptop.
