Marvelously effective haunted house chiller shows what talent and giving a damn can accomplish with even the creakiest of genres. If the film has a flaw, it's that too much is unexplained--not about the supernatural, but about the people seeking to learn about the supernatural. That's minor in the scream of things, though. Boo!
