“You defy all my attempts to plan an amusing death for you."

Moonraker takes the elements of a good 007 movie - scifi conceits, unbelievable gadgets, scenery chewing villains, and a climactic siege - and turns it all up to 11 and beyond. Multiple ridiculous outfits, whacking gizmos (including a land driving venetian gondola speedboat), a battle with a giant snake, and an astronaut military open space battle - this one really has it all. It’s goofy and cheesy from the word go, but commits in its fantastical tone.

I wasn’t bored for a second.

while technically solid and a cut above a lot of the slasher schlock, Bring Her Back falls a little flat for me. A swing at elevated horror centered around grief, but lacks any meaningful or novel insight. The way grief and mania get comingled feels like someone writing on the impact of loss without a mature understanding or experience of it. Mileage may vary, but as it lingered on the final shot i felt a little cold.
