This is the first one of these I've been able to sit through in a while. I even got a couple of real thrills in the action scenes. And the acting is super! I could watch Julia Louis-Dreyfus do Selina Meyer as a super villain all day! Wow!
That said, it gets sort of slow as it tries to resolve its major conflict. Also Sebastian Stan's hair kept distracting me. I thought it was a wig. The friend sitting next to me thought it was CGI.

I used to know this guy who had a whole philosophy based on the original Planet of the Apes movies. He was mostly harmless, but if you mentioned Planet of the Apes, movies, planets, or apes while he was nearby you were doomed to a whole treatise about this grand unifying theory. This could go on for hours if nobody rescued you from his clutches. Extracting yourself was nearly impossible. This movie is that guy. I'm kind of bummed to have watched it.
There's a lot to recommend this movie, but I'm afraid it keeps tripping over its own feet in its attempt to get us from point A to B. Worth the Watch it for the cool soundtrack, lovely cinematography, and competent acting performances. Skip if you're really interested in a coherent story.
