My favourite Wes Anderson film. Has so much heart it’s almost overwhelming, and the performances throughout are astounding. Jason Schwartzman is jaw-dropping in this. Tom Hanks is back. ScarJo is as good as she’s ever been. Margot Robbie’s scene is one of the best moments of Wes’ filmography.

Wes is a master at creating beautiful moments in his films, which can at times be a hindrance and distracting. This is perhaps the most focused film in his career, and boy does it work wonders. This whole thing worked for me, and it left me feeling so many feelings. Loved every damn second of this.

9.2/10.

It rarely ever happens that a film gives me full-body chills. I got full-body chills multiples times during this film and teared up a few times. This is the most deeply-felt, nostalgic, introspective, human film of the year. It’s a warm-hug and a cold-slap at the same time, but never feels overly dreary. Everything about this is immaculate - from the performances, to the music, to the production design and cinematography. For anyone who longs to say something to a…

Been trying to find the perfect moment to finally give this a shot - having a free day in London with it being screened in 35mm at the Prince Charles Cinema seemed like it. It definitely was. What a great time. Loved so much of this and adored how quirky the first half is. This man loves his canned pineapples. The second half loses some steam but finds itself towards the end. Way more goofy than I expected but I…

The Karate Kid

1984

One of the pinnacle 80’s films that I hadn’t seen yet - took being trapped on a transatlantic flight for me to finally give it a shot. Wish I’d seen this as a kid because it totally holds up. Is it weird that a white kid from New Jersey is the Karate Kid? Yeah perhaps. But it handles so much of the politics and preluded stereotypes so well it’s incredible. The score is amazing and Miyagi is immediately one of my favourite 80’s characters. Crazy how much of this works like an ad for southern California. Had a blast with this.

8.5/10.

As ridiculous as it gets folks. This film is insane. Absolutely tone-deaf and tries to say so much in such a hamfisted way. Brutal dialogue, horrid pacing, and nonsensical characters. Daisy's character is barely a character. Will Poulter is the standout, but the decisions he makes are so silly and we ultimately know nothing about him. So many moments that were meant to be sincere snd heartfelt that come off incredibly silly. Many audible laughs during my screening that felt…

The most fun I’ve ever had at a screening. TIFF Midnight Madness is always a blast, but this? Insanity. What a wild ride this film is. Everything is so fresh and creative and absolutely bonkers in all the best ways. The best Qualley has ever been and Demi destroys. Dennis Quaid hamming it up harder than ever before.

Coralie Forgeat makes it abundantly clear that she’s a force of cinema, and is a voice that’ll be around for a long…
