Lover of films, most anyway.

Imagine having a bad dream about Y2K becoming a technological apocalypse, but it actually happened. That's Y2K. This movie was made for fans of the 90's and is littered with callbacks and nods to that era. Some performances felt stiff, others felt overacted, but overall everyone understood the assignment. Nice surprises and twists along the way. A little subversive, but a dark comedy only A24 could deliver.
This film is arguably the most gorgeous, visual reinterpretation of Superman thus far. Despite having the shadow and legacy of the Christopher Reeve/Richard Donner era of Superman, Man of Steel proves that it can approach the character in a way that you can connect with. This is a movie made by James Gunn. Depending on that aspect alone, your mileage may vary. Not the best, but not the worst DC film in the catalog. Solid action, pacing, and cinematography, which unfortunately takes a backseat to Gunn's over the top humor, and awkward transitions between scenes. There's a lot of humor.
