I told myself I'd never watch this remake because of how much I hated the original. The literal dumbest people ever. But McAvoy drew me in and I'm glad I gave it a chance. Miles ahead of the original movie.

I loved this movie. What an understated slasher. While it may be minimal on the gore, I thought the story was very good and the film as a whole was well executed. The last half hour in particular takes a nice left turn full of fun plot points and great visuals. My one grievance is that it just abruptly ends. It could've used one more scene to really solidify an ending, but I'm assuming this was done to set up a sequel amidst the slasher boom of the 80s. Regardless, I highly recommend this one.
